I stayed at this hotel for one night during a business trip and had a wonderful experience. The property boasts great character, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and attentive, ensuring a pleasant stay from start to finish. The food was of excellent quality, exceeding expectations. One thing to note is that the gym is quite small, so it’s advisable to visit early to avoid any inconvenience. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for both business and leisure stays, and I would not hesitate to return.

My two daughters and I have just had an early start to celebrating a 40th birthday in this wonderful Spa and Hotel. We have had the day spa with lunch and the overnight stay with the bar meal in the evening and breakfast in the hotel. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the food was amazing. We came home feeling truly spoilt. We can't thank you all enough for this wonderful experience. We will be back!

Please please please!!!! Warm your pool!!! You could be a great contender for high end spas such as Rudding and even Grantley Hall but your pool is too cool, I mentioned this to staff on the day (and several before that, I have been 5+ times) each time they test and say it’s at temperature but it needs to be a couple of degrees warmer especially in winter!!!! Rudding roof top is like a lovely hot bath. Yours unfortunately you get out cold, unsatisfied and not relaxed! I hoped and hoped you’d make the change and warm your pool. Sadly, I’ll be going further afield and elsewhere.

Had my mum's wake here for 40 peopled at £25 per head. We received served 1/4 sandwiches, but the server couldn't say what was in them. They were all mixed and squashed up! A few sausage rolls and individual tasteless quiches on a tea plate in the middle of the table followed by a small jam and cream scone for each person to help themselves. Help yourself tea and coffee. Very poor!

Lovely hotel, historic old building with modern accommodation annexe in the courtyard, staff very friendly. Expensive but everything was top quality. We arrived too late to use the pool or spa. The bedroom was massive and spotless, the shower was really powerful and even though the room was facing out onto the road there was no traffic noise whatsoever. There was only one big towel though, we would have liked one each. Dinner was top class, the braised ox cheek was divine. we couldn't even finish our desserts. Breakfast was also delicious. Overall a great stay, plenty of parking and handy for getting back onto the A1

Came for our yearly afternoon tea (always bought as a Christmas gift) this time bringing my brother and his partner and it didn't disappoint. The sandwiches were beautiful as always, and what a selection. The cakes again were beautiful, light and again a varied selection. Delicious warm scone served with jam and cream. All dietry requests were met Big thankyou to helen on reception who organised for me to take one afternoon tea home for my partner as he was unable to come due to his anxiety. Lovely place, attentive staff and wonderful relaxing environment for you to enjoy an afternoon tea Will be back again. Thankyou Francesca ferry

worse hotel I've stayed at. Young members of staff made me feel unwelcome, lack of response unless my light-skinned child spoke. Called reception for a towel as there was only 1 provided, and it never came. Called reception and no answer was later told they left before they were supposed to. Phone in the room had no numbers on it ie: reception, spa etc. Ordered a 2 bowls of chips for myself and my child. There were 10 uncooked soggy chips and was forced to pay £10 for them. As the food on the menu was not something we would eat. The hotel room was not what I booked, it was unclean. bed sheets were dirty, kettle was covered in limescale glasses were dirty and spoons were dirty. Room was not wheelchair accessible and was forced to use an unsafe ramp to access a room I didn't book. No lift either. Spa staff were amazing, lovely, and very helpful. Barman Jamie was great and very helpful.

We visited Ye olde bell hotel and spa for a special occasion and booked the full day spa with overnight stay, dinner bed and breakfast. The spa was very indulgent, the service was impeccable, and the treatments were wonderful, possibly the best I have ever had. It felt like a special treat. There are 3 hot rooms, 1 steam (which I'd would have liked to be steamier), a salt inhalation room, lots of places to relax and a lovely small pool with several hydromassage stations and the food at lunch was amazing. As such I had high expectations for the hotel. The hotel is old country style and the rooms are lovely and spacious, personally I found the pillows a little hard but overall a nice experience and the breakfast was very nice with great service. What I was disappointed by was having been very clear we were there for a special occasion and booked for dinner we did not eat in the restaurant but the bar, which wasn't communicated in advance or at check in. While the food was lovely, it just didn't have that special treat feeling. Also, while it is in the T&Cs that the £30 credit was on food only and not drinks this was not made clear to us by our server and so after the meal when we were told that we would pay x amount on check out, that wasn't the case. I would certainly go back to the spa, the hotel perhaps not.

I've had a lovely overnight stay here - they've spent some money on the Olde Bell since I used to bring tour groups here in the late 90s! Room was very nice, comfy bed and both dinner and breakfast were very good. I'll be back it's a lovely place the Olde Bell.

The Rooms were in poor condition and not particulary clean especially around the windows, the mattresses were in terrible condition and collapsed, I completely failed to get any good sleep. The pillows were like concrete and the duvet needed burning it did not breath, was heavy, very stiff, old and unforgiving. The rooms had damage and stains in most places, and were baddly thought out and serviced and the showers were useless to anyone over the height a 6ft. The road noise was quite loud and the banging and crashing was very irritating coming from the rear of the hotel, The Tv was laughably small for the sheer distance from the bed was madness. The food was terrible, incredibly salty and the breakfast was rediculusly small and very poor quality and cold. For the price it was not worth it, and was seriously upset and angry at the end of the stay. I find it hard to say anything positive about the stay, bar it was quite pretty, Staff seemed helpful and friendly and had good parking.

We visited the day spa and it is such a gem. As someone with neuropathy/nerve damage, I have tried MANY spas and hydrotherapy pools. This was truly fantastic, the facilities but also truly wonderful staff. We will certainly be back!!

Great hotel in the Retford area. Rooms were very nice, had character and were very clean. The breakfast service was good. Dinner was all very good with high quality food, although somewhat lacking options. Staff were all very polite and friendly. I will be returning when I’m in the area!

Beautiful historic pub, friendly staff and friendly atmosphere. Plenty of comfy chairs to sit in while drinking and maybe making new friends. Loved the glass floor panel that showed part of Roman Road. My wife and I stayed overnight in one of the adjoining courtyard room which gave easy access and were able to park outside. The room was quite spacious and had the usual tea / coffee making facilities. Bathroom was compact and had a corner shower, sink and WC, did the job. Surprised to find the bed was 2 singles pushed together but made up as one. My wife thought the bed was very comfortable and slept well. I thought the mattress was very firm and felt like I was sleeping on a wall. I didn't sleep well, thinking I might roll off the bed! The room was clean but tired looking, especially the wooden furniture. I didn't spoil our stay, somewhere to sleep! The main building is mostly very old and needs a lot of TLC. It must be a very difficult job keeping on top of the repairs and in the main someone is doing a good job. Overall a lovely place and would not hesitate to visit again.
